Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Herakles standing right, holding club resting on bull’s head, lion skin, and the infant Telephus, who leans forward to pet a deer; tree with birds in background. RPC VI Online 7107.18 = SNG Levante 1098 (this coin); SNG BN 1613. Brown and green surfaces, light roughness. Near VF.

This charming reverse design depicting Herakles and his son Telephus derives from a 4th century BC Greek sculpture. Roman copies of this work survive, the finest of which is housed in the Louvre.
