Around 8 PM on 22 October 1707, the Association, a second rate ship of the line returning from the Toulon campaign, struck the Outer Gilstone Rock off the Isles of Scilly. The vessel sank in three or four minutes and her entire 800 man crew was lost. The vessel was rediscovered in the summer of 1967.
