Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; small thistle below / Cruciform coats-of-arms around central XIIII/ 4 (mark of value); crowned interlocking Cs in quarters. Murray, Scottish 16b; Burns 4-6 var. (rev. legend stops); cf. SCBI 35 (Ashmolean & Hunterian), 1578-80 (for type); SCBC 5611. Toned, rim flaw, edge marks. VF. Well struck.
