POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (40 mm wide x 100 mm tall). A lekanthis with a long slender body, short shoulder, long neck and trumpeted, round lip. A single handle extends from the back of the piece, attaching to the shoulder to loop to mid neck and then attach again at the mid-point of the body. A net like pattern with white dots covers most of the body. Parts of the neck, lip and handle are also glazed. Light chipping on rim but otherwise intact and very attractive. |
