STONE. Kushan/Bactria. c. 2400-2100 BCE. (6.9 cm) A bread stamp with scalloped border. On the back, a small rectangle carved centrally into the back of the piece. On the face of the seal itself, the bust of a bearded man faces right, wearing turban. His features are pleasant and inviting; a slight hump on the man’s shoulders suggests he's older. All within a scalloped border of rectangles with central holes drilled in. Loss of scalloping present on several of the sections. Tag on the back suggests parallel in BMAC 166. With a small case with glass lid. |
