POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (120 mm wide x 95 mm tall). A Daunian askos with a short oval shaped foot supporting a wide oval body. At one end, a single spout extends into a trumpeted lip. A single forward sweeping handle stretches across the top of the vessel. The piece is glazed in white slip and black concentric circles at the midpoint of the body. 4 lines extend across the center of the body at each side; the lip of the spout also is blackened. Minor ware present. Some minor chipping and deposits, otherwise intact. |
