The individual named on this coin is Ibrahim al-Ifriqi, who succeeded Husayn b. Minhal to the governorship of Yemen in AH 204. He served in this capacity until AH 206, when he was replaced by two governors, Nu‘aym b. Waddah and Muzaffar b. Yahya, who ruled jointly. While rare dinars with al-Ifriqi’s name below the reverse field are known dated AH 204 and 205 (Bernardi 113), this type with his name in the reverse margin appears to be unrecorded.
