JUDAEA, Herodians. Herod IV Philip, with Tiberius. 4 BCE-34 CE. Æ (17mm, 5.55 g, 3h). Caesarea Panias (Caesarea Philippi) mint. Uncertain year of Herod IV. Laureate head of Tiberius right; laurel branch to right / Tetrastyle temple façade (Augusteum of Paneas), pellet in pediment; L Λ [?] (date) between columns. Cf. Meshorer 109; cf. Hendin 6264; cf. RPC I 4952. (References for RY 37). Red-brown patina, a few encrustations, flan crack. Near VF. Overstruck on a Seleukid bronze, Apollo seated left on omphalos, testing arrow is clear on the reverse. The undertype was struck at least 300 years before being restruck for Herod IV.
