Laureate head of Tiberius right; laurel branch to right / Tetrastyle temple façade (Augusteum of Paneas), pellet in pediment; L Λ [?] (date) between columns. Cf. Meshorer 109; cf. Hendin 6264; cf. RPC I 4952. (References for RY 37). Red-brown patina, a few encrustations, flan crack. Near VF. Overstruck on a Seleukid bronze, Apollo seated left on omphalos, testing arrow is clear on the reverse. The undertype was struck at least 300 years before being restruck for Herod IV. |
