STONE. Kushan/Bactria. c. 2400-2100 BCE. (6.1 cm) A round bread stamp with a small handle with piercing centrally for suspension. Partial loss of handle at the top from wear. On the face of the stamp itself, a quadruped prances left, head and tail raised high, legs forward and bouncing. All within a scalloped border of rectangles with holes drilled in each section. Loss of one section at 4 o’clock on face’s border. Tag on the back suggests parallel in BMAC 170. With a small case with glass lid. |
