ROMAN. Imperial. Lot of one-hundred-sixty-two (162) mostly bronze issues. Includes: a wide variety of mostly later 3rd-4th century issues. Includes a few earlier issues, a few AR Antoniniani and some Tetrarchic Æ Folles. A varied assortment. Lot includes one (1) Provincial issue, one (1) Byzantine Æ Half Follis of Justin II, with Sophia, and, notably, one (1) IOVI VICTORI Postumus Antoninianus that is reportedly ex 1873 Blackmoor Hoard. The hoard contained eleven specimens of the type, none of which were illustrated and nine of which were later sold in large lots in the 1975 Christie’s sale. Average Fair - Good VF, some chipped, various surfaces. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS. One-hundred-sixty-two (162) coins in lot. |
