SICILY, Segesta. Circa 410-400 BC. Æ Onkia (13mm, 3.02 g, 10h). Head of youth right / Hound standing right, head left, on dead hare left below; pellet (mark of value) to right, [ΓEΓ]-EΓTA around. Bérend, Monnayage –; CNS (Eryx) 13A corr. (Segesta, not Eryx); Campana (Eryx) 35 corr. (same); HGC 2, 315 corr. (same [and legend is erroneous]); SNG Morcom –. Glossy dark brown patina, a little off center. VF. Extremely rare with any portion of ethnic visible (cf. M&M GmbH 21, lot 136 and Bertolami Fine Arts 52, lot 50 for other examples).
