BEATY REGINA, crowned rose; E R flanking / SO LA [PHENIX MVN] DYE, crowned phoenix rising from flames with wings spread, head left. Mtichiner, Jetons: 4744-5; cf. North 2062. Rough and corroded, deposits. Near Fine. Rare.

This rare and interesting token is related to a series of lead pieces produced in London from the 1590s to about 1614. The present example dates to around 1603 and references the recently deceased (beatified) queen. Similar pieces have been found in excavations of the Jamestown colony in Virginia, brought there before about 1610.
