Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, of early style resembling Pupeinus/Bubinus / Pax standing left, holding olive branch and scepter. RIC IV 189a; RSC 174a. In NGC encapsulation 4162265-002, graded AU, Strike: 5/5, Surface: 3/5.

The earliest portraiture of Gordian on his coins as emperor resemble that of the rulers he succeeded, a phenomenon that is present among the earliest coins of many emperors in the 2nd-early 3rd century.
