FRANCE, Second Republic. 1848-1852. CU Essai de 10 Centimes (30mm, 13.03 g, 6h). Paris mint. Dies by Moullé. Dated 1848. REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, facing bust of Liberty, wearing laurel and oak wreath, lion’s skin, and ribbon inscribed LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE / LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE, 10/ CENT/ 1848 within wreath. Mazard 1346. Brown surfaces. UNC.

From the Alexander Christopher Collection.

The reverse of this piece exhibits what may be light die rust. However, this rust is not evident on other examples with die breaks that clearly indicate a later state. The surface phenomenon is possibly a result of overstriking.

Closing Date and Time: 4 December 2024 at 14:32:40 ET.

All winning bids are subject to a 20% buyer’s fee.
