TRIBAL CURRENCY. Africa, Congo Kinshasa. Spherical copper ring legband (24 cm diameter x 14 cm wide). Used by the Jonga, Hamba, Nkutshu, Mongo, and Mbole in marriage transactions and to purchase access into the secret Nkum’okunda society. The large copper anklets were formed by a blacksmith hammering a single ingot of copper into shape. Ballarini 5.58. Standard shipping rates do not apply.
