TRIBAL CURRENCY. Africa, Southern Cameroon and Gabon. Spherical copper ring necklace (12.5 cm diameter x 6 cm wide). Used by the Fang people and worn by wives of chiefs. Also used in marriage transactions. Elaborately engraved with geometric figures and quite impressive in hand. Cast in a single piece and finished by hammering into shape. Ballarini 4.16-9.
