Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (22mm, 4.41 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. IMP C M AVR M CARAVSIVS P F AVG, radiate and draped bust right / PAX A VGGG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and vertical scepter; S|P//C. Cf. RIC V 337 (for similar issue); cf. Bourne 70-2 (same). Attractive dark green patina. Good VF. Extremely rare. An unpublished variety as recently as Bourne (2009). An incredibly long obverse legend reading as follows in its entirety: Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Mausaeus Carausius Pius Felix Augustus.
