Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (21mm, 3.11 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. VIRTVS CA RAVSI, helmeted and cuirassed bust left, holding spear over shoulder and shield / PA X AVG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and transverse scepter; S|C//C. RIC V –. Green-brown patina, roughness. VF. Extremely rare. There does not appear to be a radiate crown over the ornately decorated helmet on this specimen, which is a significantly rarer bust type.
