Confronted busts of Caracalla right and [Geta] left, both laureate, draped, and cuirassed; countermark: laureate and cuirassed bust right of Caracalla / Zeus Panamaros on horseback right; altar to right. Cf. SNG von Aulock 2689-91 for type; SNG Copenhagen –; Karl –; cf. CNG E-Sale 309, lot 160; for countermark: Howgego 84. Black patina with earthen highlights/deposits, light roughness. VF. Geta’s portrait erased in antiquity (damnatio memoriae).
