OIL LAMP. Holyland. Roman. 2nd-4th Cent. CE. A molded oil lamp with tapered nozzle to one end. Complex geometric design present on lid. Central hole and large hole at end of the nozzle. Handle opposite of nozzle present. Large crack along lid from central hole to hole in nozzle. Base has leaf shaped pattern with vine like pattern at foot. Some sandy encrustations present. Small crack and possible repair at side. An attractive piece. |
