JUDAEA, Neapolis. Philip II. AD 247-249. Æ (27.5mm, 16.14 g, 6h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from the front / Philip, radiate, riding horseback left, raising right hand and holding scepter; Mt. Gerizim surmounted by temple complex to upper left, star above. Harl 93 (dies A19/P87); RPC VIII Online 2393; Rosenberger –; Sofaer 205 var. (legends). Earthen brown patina, slight porosity, small metal flaw on obverse rim. Near VF. Extremely rare, only two known to RPC. |
