POTTERY. Cypriot Pottery. 5th-4th Cent. BCE. (85 mm tall x 135 mm wide). A footed Skyphos with a small, round foot that supports a squat stem holding a very squared off round shaped bowl with painted walls. To either side, small handles protrude from the vessel. Externally, both sides of the bowl is painted with central solar motifs, flanked by either side by rows of 4 double V-chevrons. Surrounding, several vertical lines flank either side of the motif. Above, several rows of horizontal lines decorate the upper portion of the bowl to the lip. Internally, several polychromatic concentric circles adorn the walls and bottom of the vessel. Minor chips present on lip. An attractive piece. |
