POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (50 mm tall x 100 mm wide). The top portion of an Apulian Lekanis with a knobbed handle placed centrally. Surrounding the lid, two heads of Ladies of Fashion with elaborate hair styles decorate the piece, each separated by rosettes. The lip is decorated with a wave pattern. The top of the knob is decorated with a full rosette. Significant loss of glaze at points. A couple chips at bottom rim, otherwise intact. |
