Geta. AD 209-211. Cast Æ “Limes” Denarius (18.5mm, 2.78 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck AD 211. P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG BRIT, laureate head right / LIBERALITAS AVG V, Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopia. Cf. RIC IV 88; cf. RSC 68. Dark brown patina. VF. The vast majority of limes denarii were struck, but cast coins were produced as well. The role of limes denarii in the Roman economy is still poorly understood.
