TUDOR. Edward VI. 1547-1553. AR Groat (26mm, 2.11 g, 9h). First period. London (Tower) mint; im: arrow. Struck April 1547-January 1549. Crowned and mantled bust right / Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchée. North 1897; SCBC 2454. Some light porosity. Toned. VF. Even strike on a broad flan. Very rare.

The Numismatic Circular listing notes: Lockett was so determined to acquire this piece at the 1914 Bascom Sale that he sent in the huge bid of 14 pounds, three times the presale estimate.
