John. Apo eparchon, circa 7th century. PB Seal (23.5mm, 8.78 g, 12h). IωANN(OV) in the form of a cruciform monogram / AΠO EΠAPXωN in the form of a cruciform monogram. Cf. DOC Byzantine Seals Online BZS.1951.31.5.2792 (for similar as Apo eparchon and kandidatos. Gray patina. Good VF.

While the obverse is clearly John in cruciform monogram form, the reverse is more complex. Due to the amount of letters present, like the DOC Online example, it is possible to additionally find the titles protonotarios and chartoularios in the monogram solution. However, on this example, John is without the additional title kandidatos. Ultimately, this seal has been attributed with only the title Apo eparchon due to it singularly using all the letters present in the monogram.
