POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (90 mm wide x 150 mm tall). An Apulian vase with large scene of a Lady of Fashion seated left holding a dish and on the back side, a large rosette, bordered at the top by a pattern of running U’s, and below, by a wave pattern. The neck is adorned with a field of vertical lines. The oval body is supported by a squat round base, a long skinny neck extends from the shoulder of the vessel. The lip is flared and hangs over the neck. Minor chipping at foot and under outer lip, otherwise intact and outstanding. |
