POTTERY. Magna Graecia. Apulia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (105 mm tall x 155 mm wide). Tall cup with flat foot and two handles on either side. A complex polychrome painting over black glaze of three registers on one side of a vine pattern within closed section below a field of diamonds in red and white within closed section. Lower border of running half ovals and dots. On the other side, again a lower vine pattern in an enclosed section is below a pattern of stylized leaves in red and white alternating within enclosed section. Lower border again of half ovals and dots within enclosed section. Minor chips on lip.. Some loss of glaze throughout. Some chips at rim. Reassembled from several large fragments. |
