Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (23.5mm, 4.26 g, 6h). ‘C’ mint. Radiate and draped bust of Carausius right / Radiate and draped bust of Sol right; C. Cf. RIC V 872 (for issue at uncertain mint). Rough dark brown patina. VF. Extremely rare and likely unique. The only example in CoinArchives.

From the Dr. Malcolm Lyne Collection. Ex Dix Noonan Webb 264 (15 November 2022), lot 1495 (hammer 1600 GBP).

The only example of this type from this mint known, and with only one other similar example of RIC V 872-4 in CoinArchives (CNG 215, 485) which hammered for $2050.
