POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (110 mm wide x 105 mm tall). A Blackware guttus with central impressed image of the head of Selenus as a bearded, balding older man. The lamp is supported by a squat base, ribbing along the side of the lamp present. A large spout stands high to one side. At a 90 degree position to the spout, a small handle extends from the body to the top of the piece. Minor wear on high points. Intact with wonderful glaze. |
