POTTERY. Cypriot. 8th-5th Cent. BCE. (170 mm wide x 230 mm tall). A large Cypriot water jug with flat foot, large bulbous round body squat neck and tapered spout. Handle extends from the back of the spout to the shoulder of the body. The vessel is painted in dark red and black, with several rows of banding at the center of the body, neck, lip and handle. Randomly placed concentric circles also adorn the body, covering portions of the fields above and below the central bands. Some light deposits. Glaze is worn but mostly visible as to design. Some minor chipping, otherwise intact. |
