Michael VII Ducas. 1071-1078. EL Histamenon Nomisma (28.5mm, 4.13 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator / Crowned facing bust of Michael, wearing loros, holding labarum with pellet on shaft and globus cruciger. DOC 2d; SB 1868. Toned with some luster, scratches, graffiti. VF.

Some interesting Arabic graffiti on the obverse, the first word is clear and reads مهلهل (flimsy, ratty, sleazy, dilapidated etc.). The second word may read حلولنا (our solutions) making a complete sentence that could read as ‘our solutions are flimsy.’ There is also some unintelligible graffiti on the reverse as well as another Arabic word that is less clear.
