Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (22.5mm, 4.79 g, 7h). ‘C’ mint. IMP CARAVSIVS P AV, radiate and draped bust right / COME S AVG, Victory advancing right, holding palm frond over shoulder and wreath in outstretched hand; –|C//–. RIC V 201 var. (position of mint mark). Dark brown patina with toned partial silvering and spots of verdigris. Near EF. Very rare. Attractive in hand.
