Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (23.5mm, 7.75 g, 1h). ‘C’ mint. IMP C CARAVSIVS P F AV, radiate and draped bust right / PAX AVG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and vertical scepter; F|O//C. RIC V 305 var. (obv. legend); Malcolm Lyne, “Some New Coin Types of Carausius and Allectus and the History of the British Provinces: AD 286-296” in NC 2003, p. 151 and pl. 26, 7 (this coin). Green patina with some brown, obverse double struck creating an interesting jugate appearance. VF. A rare mint mark according to Webb. Struck on a remarkably heavy flan.
