POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (100 mm wide x 40 mm tall). A terracotta bowl with painted designs on both the interior and exterior faces of the piece. The piece is flatfooted, with a trumpeted body and simple round lip. On either side, simple handles extend a short way from the body. On the exterior of the body, 5 rings cover the lower third of the body. From either side a triangular pattern with an internal cross present. Glaze also present on the remaining portion of the handles. Internally, the lip and the center of the bowl are glazed, the center treated with 5 concentric circles. Also, loss of glaze at points on the piece. Both handles are broken and missing. Some chipping. |
