POTTERY. Magna Graecia. 6th-4th Cent. BCE. (125 mm wide x 165 mm tall). An Apulian oinochoe with extensive decoration on the body and neck on the vessel. An oval body supports a squat wide neck and flared lip. A handle extends from the lip to the shoulder. Centrally on the body, a Lady of Fashion adorns the face. To either side, vine patterns are present. To the rear of the body, a large rosette fills the space. The neck is adorned with a running vine pattern. Very minor loss of glaze and extensive patina over the example. Intact. |
