SICILY, Selinos. Circa 455-409 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29mm, 16.44 g, 11h). Artemis, holding reins in both hands, and Apollo, drawing bow, in quadriga right; wreath above, barley grain in exergue / River god Selinos, nude, standing facing, head left, holding phiale over lighted altar and cradling filleted palm branch; to left, rooster standing left before altar; to right, selinon leaf above bull standing left on basis. Schwabacher 37–8 var. (Q12/S– [unlisted rev. die]); HGC 2, 1221. Toned, some tooling, extensive scratches, edge cut. Good Fine. |
