Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (19mm, 2.66 g, 4h). ‘RSR’ mint. [...] CARA[SIV]S P F AVG, radiate and draped bust right / CONCO[R] [MILITV]M(?), Neptune seated left on dolphin, holding anchor and trident; sea serpent below; RSR. RIC V – but cf. 754 (for similar reverse type at the uncertain mint). Dark brown patina with some green, some roughness, cleaning scratches. Near VF. Extremely rare and possibly unique. Possibly overstruck with what appear to be remnants of another reverse legend (ending in IIII(?)), possibly from a legionary type, in the right field on the reverse.
