Maximianus. First reign, AD 286-305. Antoninianus (24mm, 4.29 g, 6h). Londinium (London) mint. Struck under Carausius, circa AD 286-circa 293. Radiate and cuirassed bust right / Salus standing right, feeding serpent held in arms from patera; S|P//MLXXI. RIC V 38; Bourne 41. Green patina. VF. Very rare. RIC cites one coin from the 1871 East Harnham Hoard, IRCHB 930 (there were a total of seventeen coins of Maximianus issued by Carausius in the approximately 4,000 coin hoard). Bourne cites one specimen in the 1998 Rogiet Hoard, no. 1001 (see BNJ 76 [2006], p. 119.
