Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (22mm, 4.53 g, 8h). Uncertain mint. IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, radiate and draped bust right / LAETITIA AVG, galley right, with mast, ram, and rowers; waves below. RIC V – but cf. 264 (for reverse type at the ‘C’ mint). Attractive dark green-brown patina, slight roughness, some cleaning scratches. VF. Extremely rare. This reverse type only known for the ‘C’ mint and Rouen in the old RIC V, both of which are quite rare. In nice condition for issue.
