Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (22.5mm, 2.59 g, 4h). Uncertain mint. IMP [CAR]AVSIVS P F A, radiate and draped bust right / PA X AVG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and vertical scepter; uncertain object to right between Pax and the scepter. RIC V.5 1370; RIC V –; W. Gardner, “A Find of Coins of Carausius from the Little Orme’s Head” in NC 1956, p. 228, 320 (this coin). Glossy dark brown surfaces. Good VF. Likely unique variety with this obverse legend and the uncertain object on the reverse.
