IONIA, Ephesus. Antoninus Pius. AD 138-161. Æ (35mm, 29.48 g, 6h). Laureate and cuirassed bust right, seen from the front, draped left shoulder / At center, cult statue of Artemis Ephesia standing facing, wearing calathus and having supports, two stags flanking; to left, Nike standing right, crowning her with a wreath; to right, turreted female (Asia?) standing left, holding patera and long scepter. Karwiese, MvE 5, 244 (V45/R100) = RPC IV.2 2752.3 (this coin). Rough green-brown surfaces, encrustations. Near VF. Extremely rare, only four known to RPC. The obverse of this coin is plated in Karwiese, p. 62, 244, obverse die V45.
