The putti on this note represent Agriculture (Putti with grains of wheat and sickle), Progress (Putti with the Indian garb), Industry (Putti with hammer), Commerce (Putti with the compass), and Putti as “a messenger (Putti with the caduceus) notifying the world of the development of these elements in the young country” (R. H. Durand, Interesting Notes About Allegorical Representations, p. 44).
