Tetricus I. Romano-Gallic Emperor, AD 271-274. Antoninianus (19mm, 3.14 g, 6h). Contemporary imitation. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Genius standing facing, head left, holding patera and cornucopia; to right, signum; P. Cf. RIC V.1 110 (for Aurelian reverse type). Brown patina with traces of silvering. Near EF. The reverse type is borrowed from Aurelian’s GENIO ILLV reverse type, commemorating his victory over the Illyrians, struck at Mediolanum in AD 270/1. This is an exceptional quality imitative.
