1) MOESIA INFERIOR, Nicopolis ad Istrum. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Tetrassarion (26mm, 11.22 g, 6h). Sabinus Modestus, legatus Augusti pro praetore. Struck AD 241-244. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / River-god Istros reclining left, holding reed and resting elbow on urn from which water flows. HH&J, Nikopolis 8.36.32.1; RPC VII.2 1297; AMNG 2069; Varbanov 4220. Green patina, porosity, flan crack. Good Fine.

2) MOESIA INFERIOR, Nicopolis ad Istrum. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Tetrassarion (28mm, 12.79 g, 6h). Sabinus Modestus, legatus Augusti pro praetore. Struck AD 241-244. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / River-god Istros reclining left, holding reed and resting elbow on urn from which water flows. HH&J, Nikopolis 8.36.32.1; RPC VII.2 1297; AMNG 2069; Varbanov 4220. Earthen green patina, light roughness. Near VF. Ex Malter Galleries (ND).

Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / River-god Istros reclining left, holding reed and resting elbow on urn from which water flows.
