ROMAN. Provincial. Lot of five (5) River-god themed provincial coins, Cilicia. Includes:

1) CILICIA, Hierapolis-Castabala. Gallienus. AD 253-268. Æ Tetrassarion (21mm, 6.79 g, 12h). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Tyche seated left on rock, holding grain ears; below, river-god Pyramos swimming left; Δ (mark of value) to right. Robert, Hierapolis 49; SNG BN 2247; SNG Levante 1599. Earthen green patina, die flaw, pierced. Near VF.

2) CILICIA, Irenopolis-Neronias. Domitian. AD 81-96. Æ Diassarion (28mm, 10.25 g, 12h). Dated CY 42 (AD 92/3). Laureate bust right, aegis on left shoulder; c/ms: Hygieia head right, serpent before within rectangular incuse; Asclepius head right, serpent before within rectangular incuse / Tyche, veiled and turreted, seated right on rocky outcropping, holding grain ears and poppy; at feet, forepart of river-god Pyramus swimming right, star in right field; ETO BM (date) in legend. Karbach, Eirenopolis 10; SNG BN –; RPC II 1762; SNG Levante 1601. For c/m: Howgego 195; Howgego 6. Earthen green patina, flan flaw at the edge, light porosity. Near VF.

3) CILICIA, Seleucia ad Calycadnum. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ (29mm, 12.38 g, 6h). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / River-god Calycadnus reclining left, holding poppy and grain ears, resting on urn from which water flows. SNG BN –; RPC VII.2 2926; SNG Levante Supp. 201 (same dies). Red-brown surfaces, roughness, die flaw on obverse, flan crack and edge chip. Near VF. Rare.

4) CILICIA, Tarsus. 1st century AD. Æ (26mm, 9.16 g, 12h). Glykon(?), magistrate. Tyche seated right, holding grain ear; below, river god Kydnos swimming right / Zeus Nikephoros seated left, holding Nike and long scepter; ΓΛY to left. SNG BN 1377; RPC II 1729.03; SNG Levante –. Earthen green patina, flan adjustment marks. Near VF. Very rare, only one recorded in RPC. Purchased from Tom Vossen, June 2004.

5) CILICIA, Tarsus. 1st century AD. Æ (26.5mm, 14.61 g, 12h). Apollonides, magistrate. Tyche seated right, holding grain ear; below, river god Kydnos swimming right / Zeus Nikephoros seated left, holding Nike and long scepter; AΠOΛΛΩ/NIΔHΣ (or similar) in two lines to left. SNG BN –; RPC II 1729.01; SNG Levante –; BMC 120. Green patina, minor deposits, flan flaw. Near VF. Very rare, only one recorded in RPC.. For Lot: Fine-Near VF. LOT SOLD AS IS, NO RETURNS. Five (5) coins in lot.
