Constans II, with Constantine IV, Heraclius, and Tiberius. 641-668. AV Solidus (19mm, 4.43 g, 6h). Constantinople mint, 3rd officina. Struck circa 661-circa 663. Crowned facing busts of Constans, with long beard, wearing plumed helmet and chlamys, and Constantine, beardless, wearing chlamys; cross above / Cross potent set on three steps flanked by crowned facing figures of Heraclius, to left, and Tiberius, to right, each wearing chlamys and holding globus cruciger; I at end of legend; (retrograde Γ)//CONOB. Cf. DOC 31-3 (for similar series); cf. MIB 32-33 and 38 (same); cf. SB 965-7 (same). Lightly toned with some luster, minor area of weakness, hairlines. Good VF. Unpublished.

An evidently unpublished sub-series for Constans’ Constantinople solidi. Likely concurrent to the series with terminal letters S, Θ, and + that Grierson placed circa 661-circa 663. Given the young age of Tiberius depicted on those as well as this new issue, this appears to be closest appropriate range. Here, in addition to the aforementioned terminal letters found at the end of the reverse legend after the officina, one finds a new addition with the terminal letter I.
