The trio were awarded the Edward Longstreet Medal in physics for their paper, “A Physical Study of the Welsbach Mantle,” in Journal of the Franklin Institute Vol. 186, No. 5 (November 1918). Herbert Ives would serve as President of the American Numismatic Society from 1842-1947.
