Vespasian. AD 69-79. AR Denarius (18mm, 2.98 g, 7h). Uncertain military mint. Struck circa AD 69-71. IMP • CAESAR • VESPASIANVS AVG, laureate head right / VIRTVS downward on right, AVGVST upward on left, Virtus standing left, holding spear and parazonium. RIC II.1 1379, note 43; RSC 641. Toned, some porosity. Good VF. Bold portrait. Extremely rare. None in CoinArchives.

RIC II.1 says this in note 43 about BMCRE 371A, the example in The British Museum: “The beginning and end of the obv. inscription are off-flan; B seems the likeliest reading....”
