O MH POC, draped bust of Homer right, wearing taenia / AMAC TPIANΩN, Nike standing left, holding wreath in right hand and palm frond in left. RG 42; RPC Online IV.1 4903; SNG Copenhagen 250. Dark green patina, light earthen deposits, surface cracks. Near VF.

Several cities in northern Asia Minor claim the honor of being the birthplace of the famous poet Homer, placing his name and image on their coins. But Amastris seems one of the likelier candidates and is named specifically in the Illiad by the author.
